Hunza Valley stretches approximately 100 kilometers from lower Hunza to the border with China at Sost. The nature of the hotel business differs on either side of the valley. Approximately 2,600 meters above sea level, Karimabad is the administrative center of Hunza, and boasts the largest and most conveniently located hotels of the valley. Most tours depart from Karimabad to the nearby historical forts, bazaar, Attabad lake and Khunjerab pass. Duikar is famous for the lovely sunrise, and several other hotels are located along the Karakoram Highway en route to Nagar.

Upper Karimabad.
The Hunza Serena is the only major international hotel chain in the valley. Rooms have handmade furniture and unobstructed views of Rakaposhi and Ultar Sar. The hotel is equipped with generators and has a reliable supply of other services. Additionally, the hotel's terrace offers a great view and is very popular among guests.
July and August are the hotel's busiest months as most guests want to visit during the summer. These months also mean the hotel is fully booked 6-8 weeks in advance. Most of the guests during this time are honeymooners and international and corporate clients.
Hard Rock Hunza is situated in the main area of Karimabad. The hotel has several facilities including a bar and two restaurants. Guests are offered a complimentary breakfast between 8-10 am. Hard Rock is situated away from the main town area, and provides an onsite restaurant and bar for groups who want a resort-like stay with privacy.
The Rihla offers mid-range accommodations and is managed by Luxus Hotels. Like its sister property, Luxus Hunza Attabad Lake Resort, Rihla offers a kitchen and other services to its guests. The property is situated away from the lake and offers a quieter stay for couples and smaller clientele.
Pearl Continental's property in Hunza, PC Legacy Hunza, is also situated in the main area of Karimabad.

These properties enjoy a following and are often listed among the upper-tier properties. The interiors of the Off to Resort properties offer elegant views and a design-forward sensibility. Situated in Karimabad, Daastaan Hotel offers a good location, services and rooms that are above the average guesthouse. It's a good value property for guests wanting to be in close proximity to the main sites of Karimabad and enjoy views of the Baltit Fort and bazaar.
Eagles Nest hotel is smaller, (approx 9000 ft) and higher up on Duikar ridge. Enjoying views of all of Hunza, it offers a unique opportunity to watch the sunrise.
A sunrise from Eagle’s Nest is spectacular because of the view of five peaks: Rakaposhi, Diran, Ultar Sar, Lady Finger, and Hunza. The hotel is a view hotel, and the views are beautiful.
Because Eagle’s Nest is at 2,900 meters, some travelers may feel the effects of altitude after flying to Gilgit and taking the long drive up without staying the night at Karimabad (2,600 meters) first. Plan to stay at Eagle’s Nest the night before or the night after you do other activities in the area.
The views from Eagle’s Nest are amazing. The rooms are not.
Attabad Lake, Gojal. Water front, Glass-fronted rooms.
Travelers love coming here to get a beautiful view of Attabad Lake. The lake is gorgeous because of the iconic turquoise color of glacial water. After the 2010 landslide, the lake formed when the water of the Hunza river became dammed. Guests love staying at this resort because the rooms have a beautiful view of the lake. Many travellers come to northern Pakistan to see Attabad Lake and take pictures of it.
Because this resort is booked months in advance, you should make a reservation as early as possible if you would like to stay during the blossom or summer months. This is also a great place for couples to stay because of the views and the location.
Zen By The Lake, Attabad Lake, Gojal. Boutique.
Accommodations listed as Zen By The Lake and Luxus by the Lake consistently appear in hotel listings. Zen By The Lake tends to be more highly rated by guests who prefer a quieter stay. Zen By The Lake is less expensive than Luxus and provides a lake view. If you are considering a stay at Zen By The Lake, verify that your room is lake-facing.
Lodges By Baron Hunza Attabad Lake, Attabad Lake, Gojal.
Another lodge option located directly on the lake is Lodges By Baron Hunza Attabad Lake, and appears in both TripAdvisor luxury hotel listings and general hotel listings. Lodges By Baron Hunza Attabad Lake is a good choice for larger families and groups.
Gulmit Continental Hotel, Gulmit Village, Gojal. Family Hotel.
Gulmit is the largest village in Gojal and is located approximately fifteen minutes from Attabad. Gulmit Continental Hotel is located in Gulmit and offers guests a garden, spacious rooms, and is the closest hotel to Attabad Lake. Guests can also take a short drive from the hotel to view Attabad Lake. Families and groups preferring to stay in Gojal have positive reviews for this hotel and recommend staying here to get a change of scenery from Karimabad.
The farthest north accommodations are passu glacier inn, passu ambassador Hotel, cathedral view guest house and silk route Sarai hotel. Expect basic amenities. Passu Cones are main attraction and scenic view. Passu hotels and guest houses shut down for the season during Nov-April. Contact management to verify availability and for latest updates.

The Serena Altit fort residence is situated in Altit (below karimabad) and is a heritage property.
Things to confirm when booking a hotel in Hunza
Ask for your room type and not a category like mountain view. A West/North/East facing room is ideal. Confirm which direction the room faces.
Payment by card. Only reliable card acceptance is at Serena properties of Hunza and Luxus. Other guesthouses in the area may not have card payment facilities.
Whether the property is open during the month of your visit. November to April is the off season for Passu guesthouses and other properties in the upper Gojal.
The timing of the generator and availability of hot water.
Peak season booking policies. Cancellation policies are generally not provided but it is good practice to provide them.
Accommodation rates for the summer season and especially July and August are almost double the rates charged in winter and spring. Reservations for July and August are required 6 to 8 months in advance. Peak availability for Luxus Attabad is provided earlier.
Reservations for this period are required in January.
This month is as good as the peak months of July and August, and the best month for booking outside the Eid periods, as advance booking is not required.
Most guesthouses in Karimabad remain open during the month.
Passu and Nagar guesthouses may refuse card payments and it is better to carry cash from Islamabad or use ATMs in Ali Abad. The Eagles Nest may only be booked after one night's acclimatization at Karimabad. It is recommended that all guesthouses be checked for card payment policies.
I hear the best view rooms at Luxus Hunza are the ones overlooking the lake. Other rooms at the property face different ways. I’ve also heard that is the reason for the price difference.
As for the Altit Fort Residence, you have to plan months in advance for summer stays due to high demand and limited supply. Because of this, it is said to sell out based on reputation.
What is the most popular hotel in Hunza? The Hunza Serena is probably the most popular, especially the hotel in Karimabad. Luxus Hunza Attabad is also very popular for its beautiful lake views, especially for the sunrises. Eagle’s Nest is another great option.
Is there a Serena Hotel in Hunza? Yes, the Hunza Serena Hotel in Karimabad and The Serena Altit Fort Residence in Altit, both of which are heritage hotels.
Where is Luxus Hunza? It's just north of Karimabad, about 45 minutes, along Attabad Lake.
Are there hotels in Passu that operate in the winter? Most hotels in Passu and Gojal, as well as Nagar, operate on a seasonal basis and close from November to April.
Which hotels in Hunza have credit card facilities? Most accept cash, but Luxus Hunza and the hotels in Passu and Nagar can take card payments.
How early should I make my reservations for July? At least 6-8 weeks for Serena. For Luxus, during Eid and the 14th August, bookings open a lot earlier.
Is there lodging in Nagar? During the Rakaposhi Base Camp trek, there are some basic guesthouses in Minapin. They are adequate for trekkers. Leisure travelers looking for a hotel with a view of Hunza should look elsewhere.
